A Garden of Delights

Watching Disasters

Posted on: August 30, 2009

I’m in the midst of studying disasters. Disasters of all kinds, though of late, my emphasis has been on volcanoes and nuclear accidents, Chernobyl being quite prominent since there has been so much written about it.

What I’m researching is how humanity keeps moving back in…. Articles upon articles, sites, places… Why are we rebuilding New Orleans? Why did people go back and make Galvaston a resort community again? There are still people living and farming in Belarus in the Exclusion Zone.

The question I have is: does this mean humanity has indomitable or just dumb? Both, neither? Just resigned? Maybe we really did live with dinosaurs. =)
